The Joeys Room provides a safe, sensory-rich, and nurturing environment dedicated to establishing secure attachments and routine consistency. Our primary focus is on responding immediately to each infant's cues to build a foundational sense of Belonging and Trust.

Developmental Goals
We focus on critical early milestones: developing gross motor skills (rolling, sitting, crawling), enhancing sensory exploration (touch, sound, sight), and beginning communicative skills (babbling, gestures, and early vocalisation).

POSSUMS ROOM

1 to 2 years old

Focus & Philosophy
The Possums Room is a space designed for active exploration and the exciting transition from infancy to toddlerhood. Our program supports children's developing independence and burgeoning self-help skills. We encourage a sense of Being through movement, simple choices, and peer interaction.

Developmental Goals
Key milestones include developing confident walking and climbing (gross motor), beginning to use simple words and short phrases (communication), and engaging in early imaginative play (cognitive development). We introduce social skills like sharing and taking turns in small groups.

WOMBATS ROOM

2 to 3 years old

Focus & Philosophy
The Wombats Room supports the "I can do it myself" stage by offering complex, open-ended play experiences. Our focus shifts to developing social competence and emotional literacy as children define their own sense of Becoming. The program promotes negotiation, problem-solving, and expanded language use.

Developmental Goals
Milestones targeted include: forming longer sentences and following multi-step directions (language), engaging in cooperative and dramatic play (social-emotional), and developing fine motor skills for drawing and basic manipulation (pre-writing).

The Kookaburras Room operates as a preschool program focused on ensuring a seamless transition to school. The curriculum encourages deep inquiry, sustained shared thinking, and developing the competencies needed for future learning, fully embracing the child's identity and sense of Becoming.

Developmental Goals
We focus on pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills embedded within purposeful play, complex problem-solving, and highly developed self-regulation. The program encourages children to take responsibility, lead activities, and respectfully engage with community and culture (including the local Kamilaroi history).
