Early Learning Centre

Discover our vision for quality education and nurturing environment where every child thrives.

Our Philosophy

At Moree ELC we seek a philosophy that will assist children to develop on a holistic level a family/home like atmosphere that is warm and welcoming
We believe that children are resourceful learners who construct their knowledge of the world around them with the support and guidance from educators and carers
We strive to promote relationships that support children
✔ Feel a sense of belonging
✔ See themselves as valued and unique
✔ Engage in caring interactions with staff and peers
✔ Build a sense of respect for the environment
All stakeholders in the children’s experience at our centre will honour the children’s right to play, learn and contribute to an anti-biased, interest-based program inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework.
We recognise the importance of creating a link between home and family in an environment where all parties work together to enhance the individuals learning and development. We encourage families to be active participants in the life of the centre and value their culture, ideas values and knowledge.

Our Principles For Moree ELC

1. The Competent and Capable Child

We believe every child possesses boundless potential, ready to engage with complex concepts, pursue intense periods of concentration, and actively construct their own knowledge.

2. Enriched Environments and Managed

We meticulously curate our physical environments to be stimulating, purposeful, and conducive to learning. We establish environments that are fundamentally safe, yet actively encourage appropriate risk-taking, fostering the essential attributes of independence, creativity, and resilience.

4. Holistic Development

Our programs support growth across all developmental domains—physical, social, emotional, and cognitive—with support tailored to the individual child's needs and context.

3. Family as Collaborative Partner

We recognize families as the children's first and most important teachers. Our practice centers on collaborative partnership and open communication, ensuring our service is flexible and responsive to the unique needs of the entire family unit.

5. Reconciliation and Inclusion

We acknowledge and respect the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of the land. We are committed to fostering a culturally safe, inclusive, and equitable high-quality early learning experience for all children and families.

BELONGING, BEING & BECOMING

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is a national framework for early childhood education in Australia. It provides a comprehensive guide for early childhood educators to deliver quality learning experiences for children from birth to five years, and through the transition to school. The framework emphasizes the importance of play-based learning and recognizes the diverse social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of children.

WHAT IS THIS NEW LEARNING FRAMEWORK ABOUT?

  • BELONGING

Recognizing children's relationships with family, community, and culture. It acknowledges that children belong to many communities and that these relationships are crucial for their development and sense of identity.

  • BEING

Focusing on the present and the importance of childhood. It emphasizes allowing children to be themselves, explore, and engage in spontaneous play and learning without excessive pressure or expectations.

  • BECOMING

Highlighting the learning and development that shapes children's identities and capabilities. It supports children in developing their skills, knowledge, and understanding to participate fully in society.

PLAY IS LEARNING

  • Active Engagement

Children learn best through active engagement with their environment and peers. Play provides opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery.

  • Problem Solving

Through play, children develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they navigate challenges and create solutions in imaginative scenarios.

  • Social Development

Collaborative play fosters social skills, empathy, and communication as children interact, negotiate, and share experiences with others.

RELATIONSHIPS ARE KEY

  • Secure Attachments

Strong, positive relationships with educators and peers provide a secure base for children to explore and take risks in their learning.

  • Emotional Support

Nurturing relationships offer emotional support, helping children to feel safe, valued, and confident in expressing themselves.

  • Collaborative Learning

Relationships facilitate collaborative learning experiences, where children learn from and with others, building a sense of community and shared understanding.
